Late to this post, but I will always love the B-52s whether they are good or not. My introduction to their first few albums coincided with my interest in weed, which was a nice combination. I even bought a Fred Schneider solo album, which is, as you would expect, great and terrible. The improv game made me think of an early MTV show which I swear I actually saw even though there seems to be no evidence of its existence. People would write in with their weird dreams and the show would produce short films based on the dreams. One of the dreams someone submitted included Fred Schneider following them around and narrating everything they did in a "Everybody's [doing X]!" format. At one point nightmare Fred follows them into a public bathroom stall, sing/shouting, "EVERYBODY'S TAKING A POO POO!" That refrain has been stuck in my head for like 25 years now.

Trivia I learned about the Love Shack video recently: Ru Paul is in it.

I'm glad you came to consensus that that B52s are good. As someone whose first exposure was early 80's 91X plays of Rock Lobster and Private Idaho, it makes me cringe to think someone would make their opinion based on Love Shack and Roam. If you like Give Me Back My Man, check out the cover by Chicago band Ohmme. I got to see them perform this live and was blown away. And as someone who heard Rock Lobster at many Jr HS dances, I can't say if it's nostalgia, or a good song, but I still really like it.
