Fascinating. How much of our perceived 'worth' is just societal construct, and isn't the act of creation inherently valuable, you briliant mind?

Hmm, even as AI decimates the industry I currently work in (advertising) I’m still optimistic for the odds of outsider art persisting.

I also see a continued role for a human scribe to keep track of what’s really happening, especially the emotional toll it’s taking on all of us. That’s why we’re here on substack in the first place, right? To connect with other humans that don’t just think critically but also feel deeply?

I agree with outsider art persisting! And I imagine it will be healthy! But I think comparatively, the larger general population doesn’t care? Probably just being cynical, but looking at what’s popular, not to mention the TikTok monoculture, there’s a a big market for feeling things deeply these days. I mean, I watch that old clip of Mr Rogers passionately testifying before congress about the benefits of empathy and compassionate art, and I just think “that would never happen today”. I hope I’m wrong
