Awkward Movie Night returns to Digital Gym Cinemas with a really dark version of Home Alone

Tomorrow night, Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 9 p.m., Awkward Movie Night returns to Digital Gym with the 1989 French spectacle, Deadly Games (one of its many names, including Dial Code Santa Claus, 3615 code Père Noël, Game Over, and Hide and Seek).

To say this movie is a blast is an understatement. The plot follows a kid who must defend his home (a 100-room mansion, NBD) from an evil Santa imposter. Unluckily for evil Santa, the kid just happens to be skilled in making booby traps and homemade weapons. If this all sounds a little like Home Alone, you’re wouldn’t be mistaken, but Deadly Games predates that Macaulay Culkin classic. Plus, Home Alone was never this dark, or filmed with the same dreamlike style as a Kate Bush music video, or had as many amazing montages set to Bonnie Tyler songs.
